Understanding Business Console

Business Console is an application that you can use to manipulate information-classification structures and indexes. It also facilitates the development of search and classification applications constructed with the Verity Component Framework. Business Console consists of modules that you can configure to allow access to or hide from your users. The following modules are available:

Taxonomy—a module for creating, viewing, editing, and testing taxonomies. You can use the taxonomy module to classify information into categories for more efficient browsing. This module is only available if you have purchased and licensed Verity Collaborative Classifier.

Synonym Group—a module for improving queries with synonyms. With this module, you can use keywords to refine searches and aid users in locating the information they need. Business Console creates a hierarchical structure that you can use to manage the synonym group.

Parametric Index—a module for creating and managing parametric indexes. Business Console uses parametric indexes to refine the selection of documents in a search. This module is only available if you have purchased and licensed the Verity parametric index feature.

Promotion Group—a module for creating and promoting content based on user searches. With this module, you can create a promotion, such as an advertisement or datasheet, configure the promotion in the Component Framework, and then display the promotion on the results page based on the rules you have set. Business Console creates a hierarchical structure that you can use to manage the promotions group.

Application—a module for creating and modifying applications within Business Console. With this module, you can use the Component Framework to manage applications that work on K2. Datasheets, catalogs, and other content can be structured to create specific navigation paths for the users.
