Application Module FAQ

How do I incorporate a promotion?

To add a promotion to your application, add a promotion context and select the promotion you want to use. You have to create the promotion first using the promotion group module. See Adding Promotion Groups to create a promotion. See Adding Contexts to add a context. See the Verity Component Framework Developer Guide for information about the contexts available.

How do I change the ServerSpec when moving the application to a new environment (for example, staging to live)?

How do I define rules for multiple-page applications?

How do I define custom responses to Verity errors?

See the Verity Component Framework Developer Guide for the advanced collection search tutorial, which implements authentication, including error handling.

How do I implement document viewing?

How do I get more info about how this system works?

For more information about how the application module works, see the Verity Component Framework Developer Guide.

What is required to create a new application (directory structure)?

You must create your applications on the web server, for example: <installDir>/appserver/webapps. The webapps directory contains the directories for each application. The application directories each contain the config, css, and other directories required for the application.

What does \S.* mean? (how do I translate a regular expression into English)

You must enter at least one non-space character to create a valid entry.

How do I change the encoding for browsers for a given application?

Edit the JSP files for the application. To change the language display for an application, add or change the content type and character set to reflect that language. For example, to change from English to Japanese, add;

contentType=”text/html”; charset=”utf-8”

in the first line of the JSP files.
