News Segmentation

News segmentation analyzes news broadcasts, identifies the times at which news stories start and finish, and extracts the key concepts from each story. This task requires that you first run speech-to-text and text segmentation. For more information about configuring news segmentation, refer to the HPE Media Server Administration Guide.

Configuration Parameter Description
IdolHost The host name or IP address of the IDOL Content component to use for news segmentation.
IdolPort The ACI port of the IDOL Content component to use for news segmentation.
Input The name of a track that contains the news data to segment.
MaxNoTopicDuration The maximum duration of a segment that can be considered to have "no topic".
MaxShortStoryDuration

The maximum duration of a segment that can be considered to be a short story.

MaxStoryDuration The maximum duration of video segment that can be considered to be a story.
StoryLengthPreference Specifies the sensitivity of news segmentation to changes in topic.
Type The analysis engine to use. Set this parameter to NewsSegmentation.

Output Tracks

Output track Description
Result HPE Media Server adds a record to this track for each segment that is identified in the video. A segment can represent a story, a short story, or have no identified topic.
Event HPE Media Server adds a record to this track whenever a new segment starts or ends.
