Specify the Language Type of a Query

When you send a query to the IDOL Content component, by default it reads the query language type as the DefaultLanguageType defined in the IDOL Content component configuration file.

You must correctly set the language type of any query text so that Content can handle the query text correctly (for example, stemming correctly). If you want to send a query that does not use the default language type, you must add the LanguageType parameter to your query action. This parameter specifies that the query uses the language and encoding set in the IDOL Content component configuration file for the specified LanguageType.

For example:

The following query uses the language and encoding specified for the DefaultLanguageType, so you can send it to Content without adding the LanguageType parameter:

http://12.3.4.56:4000/action=Query&Text=The Bayes theory of probability

The following query uses the language and encoding specified for the German language type:

http://12.3.4.56:4000/action=Query&Text=Einsteins Relativitätstheorie&LanguageType=German
