When you use the
AnyLanguage parameter in all or most of your queries, you might want to use the international stop list. This stop list contains common stop words for all languages, but does not include terms that are stop words in one language, but useful search terms in another language.
For multilingual searching, this stop list ensures that the query includes all useful terms, while still removing all stop words that are never useful terms.
international.dat stop list is included in the
langfiles directory of a default IDOL Content component installation. You must configure each of the languages in your configuration file to use this stop list. If you have existing data in Content, you must also reindex the data.
Open the IDOL Content component configuration file in a text editor.
[Languages] configuration section, find the configuration sections for all the languages that you want to return in
AnyLanguage queries, including the language specified in the
In each configuration section, set
international.dat. For example:
[english] Encodings=UTF8:generalUTF8 Stoplist=international.dat [italian] Encodings=UTF8:italianUTF8 Stoplist=international.dat [spanish] Encodings=UTF8:spanishUTF8 Stoplist=international.dat
Save and close the configuration file.
Restart the IDOL Content component for your changes to take effect.
Reindex all your data into the IDOL Content component to apply the changes to all your documents.
