GenericStemming

Whether to use a language-sensitive generic stemming algorithm.

Normally, if you set AnyLanguage to True in a query, the query returns multilanguage documents only if they contain terms that stem the same way as your query terms. Generally, HPE Content Component uses different stemming algorithms for different languages, so only terms that are common to multiple languages tend to stem the same way. For example, many international words such as computer stem differently in certain languages.

Set GenericStemming to True to relax the way queries match against multiple languages. This option instructs HPE Content Component to use a generic stemming algorithm for all your language types. The algorithm is automatically modified according to the languages that you configure.

You can use the Stemming configuration parameter for individual languages to specify whether to include stemming rules for that language in the GenericStemming algorithm. For example, to use only the English stemming rules for your generic stemming, set Stemming to True for English, and set Stemming to False for all other languages. This option does not apply if you have set GenericFullStemming to True.

NOTE:

If you configure an additional language and set Stemming to True for that language, you must reindex all your content. If you add the new language with Stemming set to False, or if you have set GenericFullStemming to True, you do not need to reindex.
